Textile sorting as a driver for circular business models

At Wargön Innovation, we are developing a test and development environment for automated industrial sorting and valuation of textile materials. Every year, approx. 200 tons of textiles from the Red Cross pass through our textile sorting. Our sorting and valuation staff offers unique expertise in sorting and valuing textiles.

Dvala rent & reprint is an innovative promotional clothing company that offers circular event clothing. The company works primarily with already produced garments and gives them a new life as workwear at events. Dvala also offers a sharing option where they rent out profile clothing collections for events and meetings in a stylish and simple design.

Through Wargön Innovation, Dvala has gained access to textile material from our textile sorting, but also access to our innovation environment and network. The sorting of textile material has been important for Dvala in the development and streamlining of its business. Every time a newly produced product is replaced with a reused one, there is potential for reduced environmental and climate impact. Figures show that approx. 80% of a garment's climate impact occurs in the production phase.

Together with Wargön Innovation, Dvala is exploring how the sourcing of materials and the post-processing of event clothing can be streamlined. This includes methods for sorting, cleaning and preparing garments for reuse, which is central to Dvala's circular business model. By leveraging our resources and expertise in textile sorting, Dvala has been able to develop a more sophisticated and efficient circular business model.

Wargön Innovation's extensive network in the textile industry has also been an important piece of the puzzle for Dvala's success. Through the network, Dvala came into contact with Luger, the organizer behind Way Out West, which led to a collaboration in connection with this summer's music festival.

-"Through Wargön Innovation, I have been able to test different methods to best succeed with my business idea. Part of it is to get access to materials and to take part in the machinery. Through the collaboration, I have also gained invaluable contacts and, as a small entrepreneur, getting a context, colleagues to brainstorm with, it is a big win, says Victoria Fagerlind, founder of Dvala rent & reprint.

The innovation environment at Wargön Innovation offers a range of machines that can help entrepreneurs develop and streamline their production processes.
