CircularMovement - technology for increased circularity

CircularMovement is aimed at small and medium-sized companies in the textile and fashion industry in Västra Götaland and Halland that can get help to start their transition process through access to new technology. Subcontractors and partners of the above companies, as well as companies in other industries and tech companies can also participate.

By exposing companies to and giving them access to new technologies, new machines, cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) that have an impact on circularity and sustainability, the aim is to support companies to start their transition process to circular business models. Ultimately, this will result in long-term business benefits for companies. Through conversations and workshops with companies, challenges and opportunities will be explored to ensure the purchase of the right machines and technology that are then available for companies to test their theories in the DO-tank Center in the Textile Fashion Center in Borås and at Wargön Innovation in Vänersborg.

At Wargön Innovation, a commercial-scale textile sorting machine is already installed, including the latest fiber detection technology, Fibersort. The facility's test and demo system can handle and sort textiles in large volumes, which can be used, for example, for large-scale sorting of textiles for redesign and reuse or complaint handling and rental models.

Project objectives

The goal of CircularMovement is to get more companies into a transition process where increased digitization and new production processes can create competitiveness through sustainable local solutions and collaborations. The project will help to strengthen the competitiveness of the Västra Götaland region by strengthening industries in the region with new tools and knowledge.

This will be done by:

  • Strengthen the resilience of businesses with the application of processes in other initiatives and projects.
  • Boost digital transformation by exposing businesses to new technologies, new machines, and transformation towards cloud services and AI that have an impact on circularity and sustainability.
  • Expose more companies to the opportunities of testing and transition processes by exploiting existing networks in a strategic way.
  • Contribute to a green transition by offering approaches that show alternatives to fast-fashion and past consumption patterns.

The focus of the project is to remove bottlenecks that currently hamper further work to strengthen companies' ability to adapt.

Further development of the DO-Tank Centre and Wargön Innovation will provide digitalized support for circular business models and sustainable consumption. Companies are given support for strategic decisions on circular business models. The work also includes promoting cross-industry collaboration.
